In our latest blog, Commercial Photographers Network member for Birmingham Graham Oakes looks at some recent on site green screen photography for an Advertising Poster.
Having been recommended by Frosts Photo Centre in Mere Green, Sutton Coldfield, I was asked to produce a set of engaging and lively full length portraits for a Danish comedy tour poster.
Shooting tethered to a laptop meant that Graham could show his clients the images as they were being shot.
We had a discussion regarding the proposed layout and format, which was to enable me to bring out the best in each subject. The finished poster was to be produced in Denmark while I shot the performers in the UK.
Graham was able to set up a portable green screen studio on location.
Shooting against a green screen helps designers to “cut out” the image for use with other backgrounds and backdrops without the need for hours of laborious photoshop work, which ultimately save times and money. Having all the right equipment is essential. As a commercial photographer in Birmingham I carry professional lighting, tripods, pro digital cameras and lenses as standard. I also use a laptop on location which gives me the ability to shoot tethered, so everyone involved can see the images live as shoot.
The finished poster was created by a Danish advertising agency using the green screen images Graham had shot on location.
