Having previously worked on many similar large scale photography commissions, the CPN’s unique team of photographers was already in place to take the project on at short notice. After looking at BUPA’s spec for the brief, we quickly costed this for them and agreed a budget. We then spent some time going over the brief in some detail to make sure we understood what was required. One particularly important feature was the lifestyle aspect to the photography as they wanted to project a cosy spa feel for the dental practices rather something more clinical.
With large projects like this, we always recommend doing a test shoot first so we can quickly see if there are any practical issues regarding the brief. As all the CPN’s photographers are skilled at what they do, this is more to do with the practicalities of carrying out the photography on location rather than any photographic issues. With the dental practices, the issues we identified were to do with the availability of the clinicians who were often busy treating patients. In subsequent shoots we worked more closely with the individual practices to ensure that the shoot was timed to accommodate this.
Having competed photography for an initial batch of 40 practices, the CPN is currently working with BUPA on updating the rest of its portfolio.
